Corridor trend

Is your driving really improving, once you allow for how wide the corridor was?

In the app: Corridor accuracy

What it measures

  • Two lines across sessions. Raw is your plain corridor hit rate.
  • Width-adjusted discounts wider corridors, because a wide one is easier. It is your raw rate times 15 divided by the corridor width in yards, so a 15 yd corridor counts in full and a 25 yd corridor counts for 60 %.
  • Directional bias shows if your misses lean left or right. A change between sessions is called out when it is at least 10 points and both sessions have 10 shots.

How it helps you

Moving up a level makes the corridor narrower, so your raw number falls even when you are getting better. Without this line, progress can look like decline.

It stops you from fooling yourself with a wide corridor too.

Examples, and what the coach says

Example 1

Raw falls while you get better

A player moves to a narrower corridor in session 3, and again in session 4.

Corridor hit rate by session
RawWidth-adjusted
70 %42 %50 %
25 yd25 yd20 yd15 yd

How to read it

  • The labels under the chart show the corridor width in each session.
  • Raw drops from 70 % to 50 %. On its own, that looks like a bad month.
  • Width-adjusted climbs from 42 % to 50 %, because the target got much harder.
AI coachFocus: Stay at this width

Your raw rate fell from 70 % to 50 %, but only because your corridor shrank from 25 to 15 yd. Your width-adjusted rate went up from 42 % to 50 %, so your driving is actually improving.

Next session: Keep the corridor width fixed for your next few sets, so that you can verify the trend without changing two things at once.

Example 2

A real decline

Five sessions in the same 25 yd corridor.

Corridor hit rate by session
RawWidth-adjusted
60 %36 %40 %24 %
12345

How to read it

  • The width never changed, so both lines move together.
  • Three sessions in a row have gone down. This is not noise.
  • Same width and falling lines mean something changed in your game, not in the drill.
AI coachFocus: Find what changed

In the same corridor you have gone from 70 % to 40 % in three sessions, so this is a real drop. Before you try to fix your swing, check your Miss pattern to see if the misses have moved to one side.

Next session: Go back to your routine from session 2. Play a session of Fairway Accuracy at the same width, and make only one change at a time.

All numbers here are illustrative sample data, and the coach notes show the kind of advice you get. In the app, the AI coach reads all your off the tee data and gives you one focus with its reasoning, based on your own sessions. Each chart also has a one-line takeaway of its own.
