Best golf practice apps for drills and training plans (2027)

Facts checked on by the Strenvio team.

Most golf apps track your rounds. Far fewer help you practise, and that is where scores come down: a bucket of balls without a goal teaches you very little. Practice apps give every session drills with a target, keep score and tell you whether it is working.

This guide compares five of them on what decides whether you keep practising: how drills are scored and how much work it is to log them, what you learn from the results, the drills and plans, the website and the price. It does not cover swing analysers, GPS rangefinders or launch-monitor software, and it is not exhaustive.

We make Strenvio, so read this as a comparison written by one of the contenders. That is why every fact links to its source, every app gets pros and cons, and there are no ratings: which one suits you is your call.

The apps in detail

Built for practice measured ball by ball

Strenvio

by Jindřich Kubát, Czech Republic · Free plan, or $89.99 a year ($7.50 a month)

Full disclosure: Strenviois our app. We list its cons the same way as everyone else's.

A golf practice app with 39 drills of up to four levels each, where you tap what every ball did: the app keeps score, turns each ball into practice stats with benchmarks, and its AI coach and AI plans build on them.

What does it do?

You can:

  • Practise 39 drills in putting, chipping, approach, off the tee, bunker and course management, at Easy, Normal, Hard or Elite.
  • Pick a scoring game for each level (436 in total), from Classic to Under Pressure or Never Short, then tap what each ball did; the app adds up the points and checks the pass target.
  • See make rates by distance, miss patterns, dispersion, tee corridors and bunker escape rates, with trends and benchmarks from developing players to the PGA Tour.
  • Get an AI plan of 1 to 7 sessions a week for 4 to 12 weeks, aimed at your weakest skills, or follow a ready-made plan.
  • Ask the AI coach, which reads your results and recommends one focus area with a drill.

Pros

  • The app keeps score: you tap what each ball did, never add up in your head.
  • Every ball feeds the stats, so you see where you miss, not only how often.
  • Up to 4 levels per drill, each with its own pass target and its own scoring games.
  • Every drill, level and scoring rule is on this website before you install, in ft/yd or m.
  • A free plan with no time limit, on iPhone and Android.

Cons

  • No round tracking or strokes gained from your rounds; it measures practice only.
  • 39 drills: fewer than the other apps here, with depth in levels and scoring games instead.
  • Drills are explained in text and pictures; video comes only as a suggestion from the AI coach.
  • Premium ($89.99 a year) costs more than CORE Golf.

Who it suits

  • You want to know whether your practice is working, measured ball by ball and compared with benchmarks for your level.
  • You like games: every drill level has its own scoring games, from forgiving to strict.
  • You want to try it for as long as you like on the free plan before you pay.

Skip it if you want strokes gained from your rounds, or video instruction in every drill.

Price and what you get

What each subscription costs and what it includes, side by side. Whether it is worth it depends on what you want from your practice.

Divot

Play Ready Golf

$119.00 a year, or $14.99 a month

Plans from strokes gained fitted to your time and facilities, 119 drills with 3 levels each, and round scorecards with strokes gained.

How to choose

Start from the part of your game that costs the most strokes

For most amateurs that is putting and the short game. Check that the app has enough drills for that area, at a level that challenges you.

Decide how you want to score

Some apps ask you for one total at the end of a drill, which you count in your head; others let you tap each ball and keep the score for you. Only per-ball logging can show where you miss.

Check where you practise and on which phone

Not every app is on Android, and some need your round stats before they plan anything. Try the free version or the trial on the range before you pay for a year.

Final thought

If you want to log rounds and have strokes gained decide what you practise, Break X Golf and Play Ready Golf are built for that, and Divot adds round stats to a log of your own drills. If you want a routine with drill videos for the lowest price, CORE Golf costs the least.

If you want every practice ball to count, with the score kept for you, stats that show where you miss and a drill library you can read before you install, that is what Strenvio is built for. The free plan lets you find out on the range without a deadline.
