Carry control

Once you are out, can you control how far the ball flies?

What it measures

  • Of your shots that finished in a ring, the share in the inner ring, one row per carry band: 2–3, 5–7, 8–11, 12–15, 16–19, 20–24 and 25+ yd.
  • A band needs 10 ring finishes before it is compared. Shots that never reached a ring are not counted, because this card is about precision, not escaping.

How it helps you

Most players have one bunker swing and so only one distance. This shows at what distance that swing stops working.

It is what separates getting out from saving strokes.

Drills behind this insight

Record any of these in the app and this insight updates when you save the session.

Line in the Sand is left out: it has no rings or distance.

Examples, and what the coach says

Example 1

Good close, weak further away

46 ring finishes across three carry bands.

Inner-ring share of ring finishes, by carry
5–7 yd
60 % 12 of 20
8–11 yd
25 % 5 of 20
12–15 yd
6 of 10 ring finishes recorded, not enough to show yet

How to read it

  • This card starts after the escape, so a low bar here does not mean that you stayed in the sand.
  • 60 % at 5–7 yd falls to 25 % at 8–11 yd. That is a clear gap.
  • 12–15 yd has only 6 ring finishes, so it is not compared yet.
AI coachFocus: Carry from 8–11 yd

60 % of your escapes from 5–7 yd finish in the inner ring, against 25 % from 8–11 yd. Your technique works at short range. You just do not have a longer version of it yet.

Next session: Play Ring Edges at 8–11 yd. Make a longer swing with the same entry point in the sand, not a harder hit.

Example 2

No distance stands out

40 ring finishes, 20 in each of two bands.

Inner-ring share of ring finishes, by carry
5–7 yd
45 % 9 of 20
8–11 yd
40 % 8 of 20

How to read it

  • The two bands are 5 points apart, under the 10 needed to separate them.
  • A similar rate at two distances means that you can adjust your swing for carry.
  • You have not yet found the distance where it stops working.
AI coachFocus: Find your limit

Your inner-ring share stays between 40 % and 45 % across the bands you have recorded. Nothing stands out as a weakness, and you can adjust your carry between these distances.

Next session: Move further back and record 12–15 yd with Ring Edges. Four Common Slopes then tests the same skill on slopes.

All numbers here are illustrative sample data, and the coach notes show the kind of advice you get. In the app, the AI coach reads all your bunker data and gives you one focus with its reasoning, based on your own sessions. Each chart also has a one-line takeaway of its own.
