Four Common Slopes
From a greenside bunker, hit one shot from each of four slope positions — uphill lie, downhill lie, ball above feet, and ball below feet — all aimed at the same target. Score 1 point inside 15 ft and 2 points inside 5 ft. Repeat for nine rounds of four shots each.
Difficulty levels
Setup & execution
Set up in a greenside bunker with a target flag or alignment stick. Mark an outer circle 15 ft in radius around the target and an inner circle 5 ft in radius. In any order, hit one shot from an uphill lie, one from a downhill lie, one with the ball above your feet, and one with the ball below your feet — all to the same target. That is one round of four shots. Complete nine rounds for 36 total bunker shots. The 15-ft outer zone matches the original drill's stated challenge and reflects a realistic greenside proximity standard for experienced players. Use the uphill and downhill lies to practise adjusting your weight and spine angle; use the above- and below-feet lies to practise compensating slope with stance width and club selection.
Goal
Score 27 or more total points to pass — an average of 3 points per four-shot round across all nine rounds. Award 2 points for any ball inside the 5-ft inner circle, 1 point inside the 15-ft outer circle, and 0 outside. Reaching 27 requires landing three-quarters of your 36 bunker shots inside the outer zone.
Tour context
PGA Tour proximity from greenside bunkers averages approximately 10 ft. Experienced amateurs who can consistently land inside 15 ft from varied slope lies are building the bunker control that directly reduces up-and-down failures and saves strokes around the greens.
Scoring options
Pick how you are rewarded. Each option records different outcomes and feeds different insights.
Classic
Both circles score; the inner one is worth double.
Points Premium
The inner circle pays triple and missing both costs you.
Every Shot Counts Premium
Only shots inside 5 ft score. Everything else costs.

BunkerLine in the Sand
Draw a line in the sand 2 in behind the ball and rehearse entering the sand on the line. Record each of 15 swings as Before the Line, On the Line, or After the Line to build a repeatable bunker entry point.
BunkerRing Edges
Hit 15 bunker shots from each of three good-lie stations: front, middle, and back. Set a landing ring on the green with its front edge parallel to the front edge of the green, then control carry distance across 5 to 24 yds depending on difficulty.
Bunker Premium optionsThree Lies
Place three balls in the bunker with different lies: good lie, half buried, and fried egg. Hit all three to the same flag, then repeat for five rounds. Score by finishing inside the tier's target zones, from 20 ft outer / 8 ft inner at Easy to 10 ft outer / 3 ft inner at Elite.
