Three Lies

Place three balls in the bunker with different lies: good lie, half buried, and fried egg. Hit all three to the same flag, then repeat for five rounds. Score by finishing inside the tier's target zones, from 20 ft outer / 8 ft inner at Easy to 10 ft outer / 3 ft inner at Elite.

Setup & execution

Set one target flag in a greenside bunker practice area. Mark an outer circle 15 ft from the hole and an inner circle 5 ft from the hole. Place one ball on a good lie, one half buried, and one fried egg. Play the three lies in sequence to the same flag and repeat for five rounds. Use the good lie to establish the landing spot, the half-buried lie to control a heavier splash, and the fried egg to practise steeper entry and enough speed to escape.

Goal

Score 15 or more Classic points to pass. Award 2 points inside the 5-ft inner circle, 1 point inside the 15-ft outer circle, and 0 outside. Passing means averaging one point per shot across all 15 lies.

Tour context

PGA Tour proximity from greenside bunkers averages approximately 10 ft. Experienced players who can repeatedly finish inside 15 ft from three different lies are building the bunker adaptability needed to save strokes around the green.
