Setup & execution

Draw a line in the sand 2 in behind the ball. Take 15 full bunker shots with a ball in play, entering the sand on the line every time. Read the divot after each shot and record it as Before, On, or After the Line. As you improve, remove the drawn line and keep the same entry point by feel.

Goal

Enter the sand on the line on at least 8 of 15 swings to pass the Classic scoring option, and assess divot shape for quality.

Tour context

Mid-handicap players who improve their sand entry point typically reduce their bunker average from 3.0 to 2.3 strokes per attempt — a direct reflection of scoring improvement around the greens.

Scoring options

Pick how you are rewarded. Each option records different outcomes and feeds different insights.

  • Classic

You enter on the line or you don't. A miss costs you nothing.

  • Points

Entering behind the line costs; thin is only a zero.

  • Every Shot Counts

The line or nothing — every miss costs you a point.
