Approach Distance Control
Hit 10 approach shots to target flags at 70–160 yd — distance varies by difficulty tier. Score each shot by proximity to the flag: landing within the target zone earns points, with miss direction tracked for detailed feedback.
Difficulty levels
Setup & execution
Place 5 targets at 90, 100, 110, 120, and 130 yd — one flag per distance. Hit 2 approach shots to each flag — 10 shots total. These distances represent the standard approach range for most amateur golfers. Pick an exact landing spot and commit to your shot shape before stepping in. Hesitation and over-swinging are the two most common causes of missed approaches at this distance.
Goal
Land 6 or more of 10 approach shots within 20 ft of the flag to pass. Focus on landing the ball on a precise spot — distance control separates experienced players from the field at these yardages.
Tour context
PGA Tour proximity from 100–130 yd averages 15–21 ft. Experienced amateurs consistently landing 6 of 10 approaches inside target zones across this range are performing at a genuinely competitive level.

ApproachThe 9-Shot Matrix
Hit 9 shots combining 3 trajectories (low, medium, high) and 3 shapes (draw, straight, fade) to build full shot control.
ApproachIron Dispersion
Hit 15 iron shots across three target distances, using dispersion corridors from 10 yd to 30 yd wide depending on difficulty, and map whether each shot finishes in zone, left, or right.
ApproachThree Targets
Hit five approach shots to each of three alignment-stick targets set at different distances — distances and scoring rings vary by difficulty tier from 50–175 yd. Mark a scoring ring around each stick before you begin and count any ball resting inside the ring as a success. Complete three rounds for 45 approach shots in total.
